Gulasch

for me the perfect autumn/winter stew

for 2 people:

ca 300 gr lean steak cut

1 small onion

2 cloves of garlic

1 big or 2 small potatoes

2 medium sized peppers

1/2 leek

1 carrot (or two)

Spices:

2 Tbsp paprika

2 tsp caraway seeds

cayenne pepper

salt & black or rainbow pepper as you like

olive oil

about 2 liters water (start with 1,5 liters) depending on the quality of the meat and veggies you can add more without making it too watery

if you are not sure start with 1 liter and top up when the Gulasch is almost done

dice onions & garlic & peppers

fry until onions are glassy looking and the peppers are a bit browned

meanwhile cut all the other veg

throw the veg & meat into the pot

fill with water

add the spices

stir – put lid on and let simmer for about 40 minutes

add more water if necessary and stir occasionally
